I'm a retired UN staff member in New York to help out during the General Assembly. Actually, I'm a better gardener than a swimmer, but it's difficult to be a gardener in Manhattan, so I swim when time permits at the YMCA.
I have a daughter who has worked as a nurse in Africa for more than a year and have done short assignments there myself. Being aware of the widespread, debilitating impact of malaria (and the side effects of Lariam), I am happy to participate in this effort to curtail and eventually wipe out this disease.
