I hate swimming! But as I have friends who don't and we wish to raise money for malaria suffferers, I have been forced into this! I'm not bitter, just anxious about drowning.
I am participating in a charity "race" - two relay teams of six, racing non-stop for 1hr - at the Swimming Academy in Stirling for the 2nd of Dec to contribute toward the Swim for Malaria Day.
WHY?
The equivalent of 7 jumbo jets full of children die every day from malaria (3,000 children per day, every day). Malaria is preventable. The single most effective way of preventing malaria is to have people in affected regions sleep under a £3 mosquito net. 100% of the money we all raise buys nets.
