Swimmer: Bonza Bay

Location: East London, South Africa
Date:
19 Jan 2006

Pre-swim:

My name is Megan Ninneman and I am originally from Iowa, United States. I spent nearly a year in Sub-Sahara Africa after I graduated from university, half of which was working in hospital in rural Zimbabwe.

I have seen my share of malaria victims, even a close friend who nearly died from this ugly illness. It is a shame that so many become ill when it is a very preventable disease. I want to contribute what I can in order to save just a few. My husband, who is South African, and I live in Florida, but will be home, in East London, South Africa during the swim.

"To whom much is given, much is required."
